Our Children Are

Our Future

Our story, where to start... let's see, it goes a lot like this...

once upon a time there was a very handsome, kind, generous, friendly young man (for those of you who don't know, this describes me very well !!). This great guy saw this most beautiful young lady from across a room, and knew from that moment she would be his best friend, his most trusted companion, his wife. (By the way, this is a true story as seen from my eyes and heart.) So as the story goes this generous man and this beautiful woman become husband and wife. The ending should be here somewhere,  well you know the story book way they lived happily ever after, but alas they wanted children, this is where the story takes a twist...

We were married July 20, 1999. Paula had two children from previous marriage.  When her second child was born there where some difficulties with the birth, so she decided to have her "tubes tied" afterwards.

I didn't have any children, I was a career person, you know the type 70- 80 hours per week, I lived at work (or worse yet, I brought work home). Along around 1994 ish, I became very ill. In the summer of 1995 I was diagnosed with Crohn's Disease. I changed work habits,  changed my complete diet, took all they necessary drugs (100+ mg of Prednisone daily, etc...), but finally had to have my first major surgery. Needless to say, I had a major wake up call about the direction of my life. I wanted a family, work just wasn't that important to give my life for anymore.

Our options where limited, Paula could either have a reversal or in-vetro fertilization. (we also considered adoption) Both options where very expensive and neither had a 100% guarantee of working. Paula went through the whole battery of tests to ensure her health was satisfactory (and it was). What ended up happening was we checked with our health insurance carriers, they would not cover reversal surgery, but would cover in-vetro, that was the direction we went.  more

Why do things happen the way they do?
